Research & Applied Work

Research interests

My academic interests include:

  • Statistics education
  • Large network electronic health record data analysis
  • Obesity care

Large-scale health data

My collaborative work includes the analysis of large electronic health record and health-system datasets to address clinical and public health questions.

I have worked with network and PCORnet data on questions related to obesity, chronic disease, health-care delivery, and clinical outcomes.

Obesity and cardiometabolic health

A major area of my applied work is obesity care and the use of real-world health data to understand obesity treatment and related health outcomes.

Recent projects have examined obesity care in large academic health systems and patterns of weight classification and cardiometabolic diagnoses.

Biostatistical collaboration

I provide statistical collaboration through the University of Pittsburgh Clinical and Translational Science Institute.

From 2023–2026, I served as a statistical consultant and analyst on multiple new and continuing CTSI BERD requests each year.

Data and Safety Monitoring

I serve as a biostatistician on Data and Safety Monitoring Boards for clinical trials at the University of Pittsburgh.

Current and recent DSMB service has included trials involving:

  • Thermal injury
  • Polycystic kidney disease
  • Overdose prevention
  • Hemorrhagic shock
  • Prehospital analgesia
  • Systemic sclerosis

Funded collaborative work

My current and recent collaborative work has been supported by:

  • PCORI through PCORnet
  • The University of Pittsburgh Clinical and Translational Science Institute
  • Industry-sponsored research

I have served as a co-investigator on projects involving obesity, atopic dermatitis, health-care access, and clinical research.
